It is a surgical procedure to correct and reconstruct nose. Surgery can be performed on bones and cartilages of nose in order to restore certain functions of nose or improve aesthetic appearance or breathing problems.
There are two types of surgery:
Open and closed nose operation
Open nose operations: Doctor makes incision in nasal septum, which is end of nasal septum or substance that separates left and right air passages of nose and divides them into multiple openings.
Closed nose operations: Doctor makes incisions inside nose itself and does not cut nasal septum. Closed rhinoplasty is usually simpler and allows patient to recover faster with fewer scars.
Steps to beautify nose
Anesthesia:
Operation is performed through general anesthesia and numbs specific area of surgery. patient is often given intravenous anesthesia with local anesthesia to help him relax during surgery. .
Incision :
İncision used in operations differ depending on whether procedure is open or closed. In open rhinoplasty, surgical openings are made across nasal septum, which is a tissue that separates nasal opening. This procedure is more extensive.
Closed surgery involves hidden incision inside nasal cavity, and is made to make small adjustments to shape of nose. Through these nasal incisions, skin covering cartilage and nose bones is raised, allowing access to formation of nose structure.
Follow-up :
Patient’s vital values, heart rate, respiration rate, and blood pressure are monitored to ensure patient’s safety during procedure and process.
Nasal reshaping:
Doctor can perform reshaping of nose after making nasal incision , and large nose may be reduced by removing bones or cartilage. Sometimes surgery may require addition of cartilage, most common of which is septum, which is section in middle of nose, for this purpose, and sometimes cartilage from ear or rarely part of thoracic cartilage can be used.
Closing incision:
Once nose structure is sculpted, doctor closes incision , and a splint is usually applied to keep nose in place during healing stage and also to protect it from shocks.
After that, patient is transferred to healing area and monitored for a short period after surgery in order to ensure patient remains in his vital positions.
